Happy International Womens Day! The making of The Vagina Monologues set

Happy International Womens Day!

Thought it’d be fitting to post some of the making of photos from the set for V-Day Melbournes production of The Vagina Monologues. I co-designed and built the set with Roisin Lynagh. Working with the director Sheryl Cardozo, the vision was to create something totemic and to reclaim the space of the old chapel where the performance was to take place. It was quite a quick turn around with two weeks from brief to design, build and install. However Roisin and I are both really happy with how it all came together, and nicely subverted the old chapel with the big vaginal totem.

A massive congratulations to all the performers and crew involved in the production. I personally had never seen The Vagina Monologues before and found it to be quite a powerful work, and am very appreciative to invited to be part of it. All proceeds from the performances go towards supporting Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre.

If you or someone you know is experiencing family violence you find out about services and help via the Safe Steps website.
