Theo Jansen’s Strandbeest
Tim works as part of the exhibition team for Dutch artist Theo Jansen. Theo Jansen creates large scale kinetic sculptures called Strandbeest. ‘Strandbeest’ means ‘beach animal’ in Dutch.
Since the early ’90s Theo has been creating these large creatures that inhabit the beaches of Holland. He sees them as a new life form that he’s creating, in part as a way to better understand the evolutionary process.
